Code-A-Line 1.1 (June 1994)

Welcome to Code-A-Line!
This is a shareware program which you are free to evaluate before
you buy. Plese refer to the online documentation for the software
license and registration information.
This file explains the steps that you should follow to install
Code-A-Line. It also explains the changes that Code-A-Line makes
on your disk upon installation so that you can easily uninstall
it, if needed.
HOW TO INSTALL CODE-A-LINE?
You should have received Code-A-Line as a compressed archive file
CODE.ZIP. You need PKUNZIP.EXE version 2.04g or newer to
decompress and un-archive it. PKUNZIP can be downloaded from most
public bulletin board systems.
Create a temporary directory on your hard drive, or prepare a
blank formatted diskette (at least 720K), where you would like to
store the pre-installation (master) copy of Code-A-Line. Make
this directory your default.
Un-archive CODE.ZIP by issuing the following command at the DOS
prompt:
pkunzip code
The files in CODE.ZIP will be unpacked and placed in the current
directory. The program is NOT ready to run at this point. You
have merely unpacked the archive used to distribute the master
copy of the software.
The next step is to install Code-A-Line from the master files. In
the Program Manager, select Run from the File menu, then enter
the full path to the Code-A-Line installation program SETUP.EXE
in the Command Line box. Press OK to run the SETUP.EXE utility.
Once Code-A-Line Setup is started you should select "First Time
Installation" from its main menu, and the program will then lead
you through the process.
WHAT DOES SETUP DO?
Setup copies and prepares the master files to be used by Code-A-
Line. It will copy these files from the master directory and/or
drive described in the previous section into the installation
directory which you specify during the installation process. It
is strongly recommended that the two are NOT the same directory,
i.e. that you install Code-A-Line to a different directory from
the one where the master files are stored (you may choose to
store the master files in a separate diskette - this would then
became your master installaion diskette).
Code-A-Line Setup does NOT make any changes to WIN.INI,
SYSTEM.INI, AUTOEXEC.BAT, or CONFIG.SYS. The only file Code-A-
Line will place in your Windows directory when it is first run is
the initialization file CODE.INI.
Optionally, at your discretion, Setup creates a Program Manager
group and installs Code-A-Line icons in it. You are prompted
before this action takes place for a permission.
HOW TO UNINSTALL CODE-A-LINE
To remove the installed program and its support files:
- Delete all files from the Code-A-Line installation directory
that you specified when running Setup (be careful to backup any
data files that you may have created there and want to preserve
prior to issuing del *.*).
- Delete CODE.INI from your Windows directory.
- If you have asked SETUP to create a Program Manager group for
Code-A-Line, delete this group inside the Program Manager
(select Delete from the File menu while the group is minimized
and selected).
To further remove the master files:
- If you have placed the master Code-A-Line files on your hard
disk, remove these files, and the directory they are in.
If you used a diskette to store the master files, discard the
diskette.
- These are all the steps that you need to undertake to
completely remove Code-A-Line from your system.
